By Devora David, 12th Grade
This past Thursday, the 12th grade flew to Toronto to take part in the annual Bais Yaakov Convention. Spending the weekend together with over 1,000 girls from 50 Bais Yaakov schools around the world was an incredible experience. It was inspiring to see the large number of Bais Yaakov institutions that were represented there and to realize how many thousands of Frum girls there are today in the Jewish world, thanks to the heroic efforts of Sarah Schnierer, founder of Bais Yaakov schools.
The convention’s theme this year was “אני ישנה ולבי ער- I am asleep, but my heart is still awake.” The topic was discussed by many Rabbonim, teachers, and principals in speeches, as well as through exhibits prepared by the girls of Bais Yaakov Toronto.
After the Friday night Seuda, we were treated to a workshop on how to use technology to communicate while maintaining focus and control over common distractions.
On Sunday, we attended an additional workshop about the importance of reaching out to others to the best of our ability. The grand finale included a boat trip around Toronto’s harbor, supper and a video recapping the weekend.
