There is a lot happening in Greater Des Moines. Here is a sampling of our recent economic development successes:

The Republic of Kosovo has opened a Consulate office in Des Moines. Kosovo selected Iowa due to the strong civilian and military ties between Iowa and Kosovo. 

Electrical Power Products (EP2) plans to build a new $14.7 million, 184,000 square-foot facility in Des Moines. EP2 provides complete power management systems for commercial and utility industries for power generation, transmission and distribution. 

Registration has opened for the third annual Global Insurance Symposium to be held April 26 through 28 in Downtown Des Moines. The Symposium's theme is "Inspiring Innovation in the Insurance Industry." Attendees can register at GlobalInsuranceSymposium.com

The Global Insurance Accelerator, a mentor-driven startup business accelerator, announced its 2016 class. The class includes companies from: St. Louis; Madison, Wis.; Orange, Calif.; Montreal, Canada; and Dublin, Ireland.

Des Moines has joined Kansas City, Omaha and St. Louis in forming the Heartland Civic Collaborative, a mega-region initiative that will allow the metros to take advantage of mutually advantageous opportunities. See more information at HeartlandCivicCollaborative.org.

EMC Insurance Companies

Construction continues on a new 107,000 square-foot office being built by EMC Insurance Companies in Downtown Des Moines. The $39 million project will continue to revitalize Walnut Street, a key area of development.
