The 30-minute e-learning module ‘Type 2 Diabetes – a Low GI Approach’ is for healthcare professionals and has been written by Southport-based GP Dr David Unwin in collaboration with diabetes.co.uk. A quick-reference guide for primary care healthcare professionals to prepare people with diabetes for surgery has been published. A flowchart designed to aid decision-making and avoid post-operative harm has been published by the journal Diabetes & Primary Care. A PDF is available to download and print. Guidelines on managing hyperglycaemia in kidney disease have now been finalised by members of a national group which represents diabetes consultants in the UK. The Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) and the Renal Association clinical specialty work programme has released a summary of the full guidelines with audit standards and issues for future research.
