I spoke at the Alberta Economic Summit last weekend, which was held because the province is dealing with a major revenue shortfall due to lower-than-expected energy prices and a deep discount for Alberta bitumen.

The summit brought together leading industry experts, not-for-profit leaders and academics to discuss Alberta’s economic future. I was invited to attend to represent the views of business and Chamber members.

Chamber CEO Adam Legge took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday morning to kick off the opening of Buffalo Wild Wings, a popular American pub and wing chain that has 835 locations throughout the US and eight in Canada – two of which in are in Calgary.

Hundreds of people showed up, with some even lining up as early as 7 am, to be one of the first 100 people through the doors to get free chicken wings for a year.
