End of Year 2015

First off, Sue and I would like to thank our clients, vendors, and friends for an enjoyable and successful year.

It's always a privilege to work with such talented, resourceful, and nice people.

Here's a few highlights of note from 2015:

1. I have found myself moving more towards alternative processes: infrared, textures, and very long exposures. It's interesting that after 25 years in the business that the thing that sparked my initial interest in photography, infrared, has never lost its appeai. Using the D800 with its resolution and high dynamic range is almost like starting over. My interest in texturing images has increased dramatically as a path to originality in world where everyone seems to be a photographer. And, of course, extreme long exposures (4 - 15 minutes) transforms our visual world.

2. After a short flirtation with the Fuji X system, I've returned to Nikon.

3. Never being a long lens user, shooting primarily wide angle to short telephoto landscapes, I was pleasantly surprised how much I use the 200-500mm lens for landscapes and small scenes.

4. Our Visual Creativity Seminar was recorded and is now available for download!

The first annual Smoky Mountains Photography Conference went well. Although, fall is a bit crowded in certain parts of the park, there's always places to find solitude, like on Tremont road during a slight drizzle. Watch this space for updates for The Smokies Conference, fall, 2016.

Thx to my friend, Slim. I got wind of a very cool screen protector. Now, I'm not usually a fan of how they krinkle up and trap air, but the Vello Screen Protector Ultra (Ultra-Clear Optical Glass) is a bit different..

No more dust trapped between the plastic and the screen.

No more taking the plastic piece off to clean.
