Our Lady of Grace Newsletter No images? Click here Dear Lord, Thank You for the gift of being able to rise each day with the assurance that You walk through it with us. May all that we are today, all that we try to do today, may all our encounters, reflections, even the frustrations and failings all be placed in your hands. We thank you, Lord. We make this prayer through Christ Our Lord, Amen. TERM 1 WEEK 2 - 12 FEBRUARY 2020 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGEDear Parents, Yesterday I was delighted to be a part of the Year 6 2020 Leadership Retreat. The Year 6 students, their teachers, Mrs Magee and Mrs Elliott, teaching assistants Mrs Attilia, Mrs Retamal and Mrs Spadaccini as well as Sister Anita and Sister Maureen, learned about the many facets of leadership. The students explored leadership formed by our Catholic faith, public speaking (with assistance from Mrs Sullivan from the Parish) leading teams and how to bring our own OLG Vision to life. Before finishing the day with a prayer service, the students spent the afternoon presenting their Head Boy and Head Girl speeches. Parents should be very proud of their children as all of the speeches centred around service to others and contribution to our school community. I found the speeches both humbling and inspiring. It was exciting to see students presented with their new look Leadership Shirts as part of the retreat, these shirts were designed in consultation with students last year, and highlight the school colours of sky blue, gold and white. Thank you to Mrs Jill Eftos, Uniform Shop Manager, for ensuring delivery of the shirts in the first weeks of Term 1. At our first Whole School Mass this Friday at 9am the Year 6 students will wear their Leadership Shirts to be presented to the community. We will acknowledge and bless these young leaders in addition to acknowledging our parent leaders, the School Board, Parents and Friends Executive as well as our School Leadership Team and our education leaders – teachers and staff. You are very welcome to join us at this Mass and please feel free to sit with your child and their class. Tonight, our Parent Information Session begins at 6pm in the Multi Purpose Area. All parents from Pre-Primary to Year 6 are invited to attend this session where I will launch our Vision for Learning developed in consultation with the parents, students and staff in 2019. Class Information Sessions will follow at 6.30pm and repeated at 7.00pm. In an effort to be more sustainable booklets will not be printed this year and all information presented will be available electronically on Flexibuzz and the website from Thursday. The beginning of the year is a busy time and much information is being sent home this week. Traditionally all important information ended up on the front of the fridge – I think you are going to need a bigger fridge! Please look out for; · OLG Annual General Meeting, Thursday 20 February Last year our school moved to a new administration system called the AOS. Information was provided to parents regarding the impact of such a move. The process was complex and thank you to the many parents who were patient as our office staff started to use and learn the system. One impact has been a delay in school fee letters. The school fee letters would normally have been sent by now allowing you to make decision regarding payment plans etc. These letters will be sent out a little later this term as we navigate the new AOS system. In the meantime you can begin to pay fees and payment plans are a terrific way of managing school fees per week, fortnight or month. Please contact Mrs Kate Corkill, Finance Officer, 6241 9500 to discuss the variety of payment plans available. I look forward to see you this evening at 6pm in the Multi Purpose Area to start our Parent Information Evening. God Bless. Gabrielle Doyle Congratulations to the students who received Merit Awards at last week's assembly. Flexibuzz Don't forget to check the boxes for your children's classes on Flexibuzz, and remove the Class List Announcement Box. Communication from your child's teacher will predominately be via Flexibuzz so you don't want to miss out.
