C4 Center-Wide Seminar

In February, C4 Affiliate Mylynda Massart, MD, PhD and Kathryn Hartman, MPH from All of Us Pennsylvania presented on the potential ways to use the data from the NIH All of Us Research Program for chronic condition research.

The NIH is awarding up to $4.75 million in Fiscal Year 2023 for research grants to advance the use of All of Us data, and organizations such as the NHLBI are awarding extra funding through two companion FOAs.

Affiliate Spotlight: Bonny Rockette-Wagner, PhD

This issue’s C4 Center Affiliate Spotlight features Dr. Bonny Rockette-Wagner. Dr. Rockette-Wagner is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health whose research expertise includes the assessment of the role of physical activity and lifestyle interventions to prevent and treat chronic diseases.

Dr. Rockette-Wagner’s research utilizes pragmatic and community-based clinical trials and epidemiological studies to better integrate referral to physical activity within primary care practice towards improving patient care and long-term health outcomes related to chronic conditions. Dr. Rockette-Wagner is currently working on her K01 project, The Clinical Referral to Physical Activity Study, which is the second of two pilot studies to develop an intervention program aimed at increasing physical activity levels in adult primary care patients with low activity levels and with cardiometabolic risk factors.

To learn more about Dr. Rockette-Wagner’s work, see her Pitt School of Public Health faculty profile.

C4 Members Awarded 2023 CTSI Grant

In their grant titled Geospatial Analysis of Disparities in Access to and Use of Metabolic Disease Specialty Care, C4 Core Member Margaret Zupa (PI), Affiliate Amber Johnson (Co-I), and Director Ann-Marie Rosland (Co-I) will explore how geographic, transportation, and internet access barriers impact the use of specialty care for adults with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and how widespread use of telemedicine since 2020 has impacted disparities in care utilization.
