Obtain for me the grace to imitate you, and to inspire Christian families to lead a life worthy of their vocation for the greater glory of God and for the extension of the Kingdom of God’s love on earth. Amen. TERM 5 WEEK 7 27 NOVEMBER, 2019 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGEDear Parents and Care Givers What is Advent? The word Advent means the arrival of an important person or thing. It is derived from the Latin word “Adventus” which means coming. For Catholics, Advent is the four-week season leading up to Christmas. During Advent we anticipate the coming the coming of Jesus. This a time of reflection, excitement and hope. Week One of Advent is a week for Hope Jesus is our Hope in this world and we place hope in our hearts to celebrate the birth of Christ with our family and loved ones. Mother Foundress Day and Our School opening was a great success last week, we could not have asked for better weather or setting. The amphitheatre with our new buildings as a back drop was captivating. The many dignitaries that attended were impressed with the school and especially our Year Six student ambassadors who greeted and gave individual tours of the school. The Mother Foundress Mass was beautiful but very 21st Century with the short filmed designed and produced by Year 5 White. Father Hyginus’s message about gratitude was thought provoking for us and inspirational, to be thankful and to show appreciation is a quality we should all display. Week Seven has been again another busy week here at Our Lady of Grace, on Tuesday a group of Principals and Assistant Principals from Tasmania came for a tour of our Early Year classrooms. They were impressed with not only the buildings and classrooms but the quality of teaching and our amazing students. Our Early Years students were more than happy to show our guests the nature play area especially the creek. It was a valuable experience for everyone. In other parts of the school there have been dance lessons in readiness for the Year Five and Six concerts and the Graduation Dance. The Year Four cohort were lucky enough to visit Parliament House, Years One and Two are off for an exciting day at the zoo on Friday. With all this in mind if we could hold Mrs Doyle and her family in our thoughts. Mrs Doyle will be on leave until the end of term to spend time with her family. Myself and Mrs Teresa Wandek will “hold the fort” until her return. We can assure you that all staff here at Our Lady of Grace will ensure that the students are of our highest priority and it will be business as usual. All end of year activities and assemblies will occur as normal.
