New rehab facilities

Our latest appeal is to support an overhaul of the Neurorehabilitation Unit’s (NRU) day room to make it far more comfortable and accessible for patients and staff.

The NRU provides rehab for people over the age of 16 with the most severe life-changing brain and spinal cord disorders.

“All of our patients and their families suddenly find themselves in an extremely distressing situation," explains Dr Val Stevenson, consultant neurologist & Clinical Director for Rehabilitation at The National Hospital. "It is vital that we can provide not only an effective clinical therapeutic space, but also a welcoming feel where people can live the next two to six months of their lives."

The new space will improve on accessibility for patients, most of whom are in a wheelchair, and it will be far  clearer to navigate for those with significant cognitive issues. There will also be a play area for visiting children.

We are raising £120,000 for this vital project. If you would like to find out more or donate to the appeal, click below.
