Notice: Updates to WPS Training & Requirements

Changes for Idaho’s WPS training video, as of December 18th, will no longer be valid to train workers and handlers.  EPA-PERC has developed training videos for both, workers and handlers that meet the revised WPS training requirements.

If you need to train your employees, but are not a licensed applicator or certified WPS trainer, you can take the online TTT course developed by PERC.  This is a 3-4 hour class and the cost is $35.00. The other option is to wait until next spring to attend one of the ISDA’s TTT classes.

Record Keeping: Employers are required to maintain training, central location (application records and SDSs), and respirator training records for two years.

Any person, including employers, family members, and employees, that apply pesticides and are required by the pesticide label to use a respirator, need to go to a medical provider to get a medical evaluation (one-time event unless physical / medical changes happened), and annual respirator fit testing for each respirator used and maintain respirator training records for two years.

As always, Idaho State Department of Agriculture offers WPS compliance assistance audits, which at this time are not enforceable, and they are an excellent tool in helping Ag. employers to become compliant with the WPS.

HERE is the link to the EPA-PERC website where all WPS training, outreach, and TTT materials can be found. If you have any questions, please contact Luis at ISDA.

Wine Pull at Leadership Idaho Agriculture Auction

The IWC is sponsoring the Wine Pull at the Leadership Idaho Agriculture Auction again for 2019. Leadership Idaho Agriculture is recognized as a premier leadership development program in the state of Idaho. LIA is the only leadership organization in Idaho that works to directly cultivate leaders in agriculture - the state's biggest and most influential industry. Since 1985, LIA has been offering a concentrated, hands-on learning experience to enhance and build leadership qualities, while developing advocates for agriculture and rural communities who will serve as a voice for the industry for generations to come.

Let us know if you would like to contribute with a bottle of wine or two by the end of the year. Moya and Brenna have both been through the LIA program
