International Outsider Art Conference in Melbourne, Australia

An international conference, Contemporary Outsider Art: The Global Context, will be held at the University of Melbourne from October 24-26, 2014.

Artists, curators, collectors and scholars are invited to submit papers on outsider art in Europe, North America, Asia or Oceania. Send abstracts of 250 words and a 100 word biographical statement by February 26, 2014 to Anthony White at a.white@unimelb.edu.au.

Ramirez at Library of Congress, Washington

The Library of Congress in Washington displays a rare piece by Martin Ramirez.

Found rolled up among pamphlets and letters once belonging to Charles and Ray Eames, the drawing depicting a Madonna motif has been fully restored and is now on view.

New Museum opens in Zürich, Switzerland

The Musée Visionnaire is an art foyer and art-lending library. Changing exhibitions will allow visitors to discover and rediscover contemporary Art Brut and outsider art, and experience it within the context of related art forms such as Urban and Street Art. It is also possible to borrow works from the collection.
