Alex Ryan at Music Video Show + Tell

Alex Ryan is one of the seven music video directors speaking at Metro Screen's Music Video Show + Tell. Alex is a graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School. He has made Music videos for Jebidiah, 360 and Alba Varden. Above is a still from the music video he shot for 360's track 'Throw It All Away'.

To hear Alex and the rest of the directors, head to FBi Social in Kings Cross on Wednesday 4 April from 6pm. Tickets are $7 plus booking fee and include complimentary wine on arrival from our good friends at Cake Wines.

AVID Media Composer 6 Fundamentals | 18 March - 1 April

Learn the basics of editing with Avid's newest editing software – Media Composer 6. During the course you will cover a range of topics including system settings, capturing, editing and trimming techniques, finishing and exporting.

Final Cut Pro 7 Fundamentals | 27 March – 12 April

Learn the fundamentals of editing techniques using Final Cut Pro 7, one of the world’s most popular and widely used professional editing software. Topics covered include basic set-up, preferences, capturing video and audio, editing and cutting techniques, audio editing, finishing, and exporting video. The course is run by a Metro Screen Apple Certified trainer and covers the first half of Apple’s Final Cut Pro 101 training syllabus.

Final Cut Pro 7 Intermediate | 17 April – 3 May

Taught by a Metro Screen Apple Certified Trainer this course covers the second half of Apple's FCP 101 training syllabus and is designed for those with a good basic knowledge of Final Cut Pro 7. Participants will cover advanced editing functions, including titles, graphics, audio mixing, motion tools, multi-camera editing, filters, colour correction, grading and outputting formats.

1st Annual African Film Festival

The 1st annual African Film Festival Australia will screen in Sydney from 5 to 8 April 2012. The program is diverse and eclectic, highlighting the intense complexity of African culture and experience with subjects ranging from a Beethoven style symphony in the Congo, to the use of photography in rebuilding and healing post war Liberia to the power of the hip hop movement in Senegalese politics.
