WBI + Berlinale Talents 2017

Wbi + Berlinale Talents 2017:
World Building for Rebellion

Berlinale is near and the World Building Institute is thrilled to collaborate with the Berlinale Talents, where we again curate the World Building Studio for an interdisciplinary group of Talents attendees from around the world. These three days of participation in a continuous and interactive process, February 12th to 14th 2017, focus on new design practices for narrative media.

The World Building Institute (Wbi) is founded in the belief that storytelling is the most powerful system for the advancement of human capability, and that by combining the human imagination with new technologies we can sculpt this imagination into existence.

The Wbi is devoted to the space where art and science, technology, design and storytelling are inseparable. At their intersection lies the new creative laboratory for the future of narrative. The Institute produces and curates a persistent trans-disciplinary international discussion to develop immersive design, transmedia narrative, and World Building into practice.

This year, the theme of the Berlinale Talents is COURAGE | AGAINST ALL ODDS, on that frame, we will go deep in the future of rebellion in Spaceship Earth with Future Cities: Surveillance, Spectacle, World Building for Rebellion.

In the workshops and an interactive World Building live event we will engage these young talents and the audience with a gathering of interdisciplinary World Building experts, in a collaborative, immersive, interdisciplinary process, using storytelling as a vehicle to try to comprehend this holistic and complex system. The Wbi is devoted to the landscape where art and science, technology, design and storytelling are inseparable. At their intersection lies the new creative laboratory for the future of our narrative practices. The Institute produces and curates a persistent trans-disciplinary discussion around immersive design, transmedia narrative, and worldbuilding.

Our group of illustrious mentors includes Itamar Kubovy, Kamal Sinclair, Trisha Williams, Alex McDowell, Juan DiazB, alongside an extraordinary group of special guests that will join us in our immersive workshops, among whom are Anrick Bregman, Boris Hars-Tschachotin, Natalia Tsarkova and Kilian Kleinschmidt.
