Make sure you're using it right!

With summer in full swing, we want to make sure that our patients are properly protected from sun damage and other sun-related maladies. Follow these steps from the American Academy of Dermatology to ensure you and your loved ones are fully covered. 

1. Choose a sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher, is water resistant, and provides broad-spectrum coverage.
2. Apply sunscreen generously at least 15 minutes before going outdoors. 
3. Use enough sunscreen, meaning at least one ounce—about the amount you can hold in your palm—to fully cover all exposed areas of your body. 
4. Apply sunscreen to all bare skin. Don't forget your neck, face, ears, tops of your feet and legs.
5. Reapply sunscreen at least every two hours to remain protected, or immediately after swimming or excessively sweating. 

LaFrance TIP ALERT! Don't forget about your pout! Apply a lip balm with an SPF of at least 15.
