How Important is Sexual Health?
Is sexual health important to your quality of life? And what factors contribute to a satisfying sex life?
Over 3,500 people recently answered those questions in an online survey. Their average age was 49 years.
The results, published online in September in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, often depended on age, gender, sexual activity status, and overall health status.
For example, about 43% of the women and 62% of the men said that sexual health was important to them. Those who were in better overall health and those who were sexually active generally agreed.
Respondents in their mid-to-late thirties seemed to be the most satisfied with their sex lives, but satisfaction tended to decrease with age. People who rated their health status as fair or poor also tended to be less satisfied.
