Environmental Tracers in Groundwater Hydrology: Tools for Improved Process UnderstandingMelbourne 25-27th February 2019This hands-on course will help you to use appropriate sampling methodologies to acquire reliable data, as well as how to interpret and model analytical results. The knowledge will lead to you making meaningful improvements in your understanding of hydrogeological processes and conceptual groundwater models. The course will review the basic principles of environmental chemistry and tracer hydrology, and is aimed primarily at hydrogeologists and environmental scientists in the public and private sectors. It assumes prior knowledge of the basics of groundwater hydrology, and will include numerous case studies and worked examples, including many local studies that have been conducted by the internationally recognised presenters. Presenters: Dr. Glenn Harrington, Innovative Groundwater Solutions and Dr Andrew Herczeg, Geochemical Solutions. Includes networking drinks, tutorials & case studies. IAH, AWA, WIA, SCPA member discount 10%. 20% discount for groups and students. ![]() ![]() 2019 Australian Groundwater SchoolThe Australian Groundwater School provides participants with a broad but rigorous introduction to groundwater. Introducing hydrogeology, assessment methods, modelling, managed aquifer recharge, management, governance and more, the course truly encompasses the fundamentals of groundwater. ![]() Australian Groundwater Modelling School - Excellent introductory courseAn intensive 4-day groundwater modelling course, the Australian Groundwater Modelling School is scheduled in Brisbane 20-24 May 2019. This School will introduce attendees to the art and science of groundwater modelling. It will include a brief discussion of groundwater flow before examining the details of the process of modelling. Each step in the process will be thoroughly examined with practical applications as the focus. Extensive tutorials will allow attendees the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with using MODFLOW, the industry-standard groundwater modelling code. Other codes will be introduced and discussed. Presenter: Dr. Michael Teubner, MD Teubner Consulting. ![]() Field Methods training: Groundwater Sampling and Aquifer Testing TechniquesBecome familiar with a range of hydrogeological field techniques that you will be able to confidently implement in your daily work. This hands-on course will provide participants with practical experience in designing and executing aquifer pumping tests, groundwater sampling campaigns and techniques to obtain groundwater samples for a range of routine and novel analyses. An introduction is provided on drilling methods and down-hole geophysics. Morning classroom lectures will provide participants with the background theory that underpins the afternoon field exercises 2019 NCGRT-IAH Distinguished LecturerDr Justine LaceyWe are thrilled to announce that the 2019 NCGRT-IAH Distinguished Lecturer is Dr Justine Lacey, Principal Research Scientist with CSIRO Land & Water. Dr Lacey will present on the topic of "Social License to Operate", a critical issue in Australia and around the world, especially with mining and coal seam gas developments. Stay tuned in early 2019 for more details on the lecture including tour dates. 2019 ConferencesAbstracts and Early-Bird Registrations are now open for the 2019 IAH-NCGRT Australasian Groundwater Conference - Groundwater in a Changing World This conference promises to be an epic event filled with informative presentations, entertaining networking events and stunning field trips exploring the sights and sounds that this sub-tropical dynamic region has to offer.
