Dear Valued Patient, Founded in 1980, the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is an annual bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic event in the country! In 2019, the PMC donated a record-breaking $63 million to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. While the typical PMC is a two-day biking event, with over 6,500 riders, covering 192 miles from Sturbridge to Provincetown, due to social distancing requirements, this year's PMC looked a little bit different. One thing that did not change is the commitment and energy of all the riders participating in their own re-imagined PMC rides this year. On Saturday, August 1st, our Bay State Physical Therapy Riding Team, consisting of 11 amazing individuals rode 100 miles as part of their #pmcreimagined!! Their route kicked off at 6:00 a.m. in Milton for their voyage around the South Shore of Massachusetts. Despite being in the saddle for a total of 7 hours, the team never lost sight of their inspiration: raising funds to fight cancer! Along the route, our team had seven energizing water stops at a few of our Bay State Physical Therapy locations. The stops provided our team with the opportunity to refuel and receive preventative treatment and stretching from some of our supportive physical therapy and chiropractic staff members. The highlight of the day was the neighborhood parade in Weymouth for our Pedal Partner Carly, who is a pediatric cancer patient receiving treatment at Dana Farber. Carly's family, friends, and neighbors lined her street as the Bay State Riding Team led the parade with Weymouth Fire and Police Department vehicles. More than 25 cars, decorated with signs and balloons, followed the team to celebrate Carly and inspire her to keep up her fight against cancer. It was an inspirational event for all who participated!! Thank you to all who participated on Saturday and supported our #pmcreimagined by donating toward our team's fundraising goal! While the Team's goal has been achieved, it's not too late to donate! Our fundraising campaign will continue until October, with 100% of all rider-raised dollars going directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dana Farber is committed to funding lifesaving cancer research and providing treatment to patients like Carly who are battling cancer. If you would like to donate, please see our Team's donation page HERE. Thank you for your continued support of our team and this great cause!
