2019 Committee Letter Information

Candidates applying for 2020 matriculation into medical (MD & DO), dental (DMD & DDS), optometry (OD), and podiatry (DPM) health professional programs can now begin the process to collect their letters of recommendation through veCollect.

Note the following dates:

  • February 14, 2019: Committee interview scheduling begins
  • March 4, 2019: Committee interviews begin
  • September 26, 2019: Committee interviews end, and we will no longer accept updates from re-applicants and delayed applicants. Please plan accordingly.

veCollect charges Penn State annually per active account. Do not create an account unless you are applying within the current cycle. All candidates must pay the fee every year they have an active account. All accounts will be deleted annually mid-October.

The process has changed this year. Please do not use the old instruction guides.

Personal Statement Reviews

The Prehealth Advising Office has developed a Canvas module to assist students through the reflective writing process. It includes a number of writing exercises. At the end, candidates can submit a draft of their personal statement to be reviewed by a prehealth adviser.

Note: March 22, 2019 is the final date to submit a draft to be reviewed by our office.

We will review the content and tone of your personal statement a maximum of 3 times. We recommend you utilize the Writing Center and your other resources for final grammar and spelling.

If you have not submitted a draft by March 22, you can still use the module's writing exercises as part of the brainstorming and drafting process. It will remain open for anyone wanting to use it.

Instructions on gaining access to the Canvas module and submission can be found here: http://sites.psu.edu/sciadvising/prehealth-advising/personalstatement/
