With 91 contributors we are happy to inform you that our crucial indiegogo campaign has now secured the first of our 3 goals! And thousands have expressed support for the Moken people through Project Moken - so we can make this!!!
We still need funding to equip the Moken Vanya Boat for the task of collecting and recycling plastic waste from the ocean, before finally getting her out onto the waves with her Moken crew to start working. From that moment on we are set with a permanent arrangement of support from local businesses and the tourist industry to keep the Vanya-boat and her Moken crew working on the waves for years to come. They are just waiting for us to finalize our preparations. This could be the U-turn for the ongoing Moken downward spiral.

Remember that Project Moken will make sure this happens no matter what, but time is a crucial factor. The Moken are starving, and the elders pass away before they can share their knowledge with the young out at sea. The unique knowledge of the sea is lost in the camps and villages they are forced into now. We need to get them back on the waves as soon as possible! If all of you would share a dollar or two, we would make it in time.
