Student Newsletter

From the editors...

Welcome to the first student newsletter of the new academic year.

These are produced every fortnight by the Internal Communications team so we can share news, announcements, selected events and some requests for help.  We are also developing some more regular slots from departments, clubs & societies.

If you wish to communicate around the University, the newsletter is just one way to do that. Please check our Methods of Internal Communication webpage, and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

The next newsletter will distributed on Weds 28 Sept, and the deadline is 4pm Fri 23 Sept.

Our new library system ...
  • With automatic renewals, fines are no longer charged for overdue standard loan books. You can keep them for up to 12 months without the need for any action on your part.
  • Shorter loan types, such as 7 day loan or 1 day loan books will not automatically renew and should be returned on the due date as before. Fines will be charged if they are overdue.
  • If somebody else requests a book you have on loan, we will notify you by your University email and ask you to return it by a new date.
  • If the book you want is not available on the shelf, it is important that you place a request on it so that we can recall it. Otherwise it could be unavailable for up to a year.
  • Please note that fines will be charged if you fail to return a requested book by the new date.

From 3 October, fines will increase to £1 per day to encourage the prompt return of books in demand.
