Throne Speech raises questions on business issues

Throne Speech raises questions on business issues

On June 15th, the first session of the twenty-ninth legislature began with the newly appointed Lieutenant Governor, former Calgary Chamber Board Chair and esteemed business leader, Her Honour Lois Mitchell delivering the Speech from the Throne.

While the Throne Speech pushed for greater political inclusion and transparency, it also indicated the government’s commitment to unnecessarily raising corporate taxes by 20% (10%-12%) and omitted any mention or remedy for key issues plaguing the Albertan economy.

See how else we feel the Throne Speech raises questions for Calgary business.

How will LinkedIn's new cap on free messages to group members affect your business?

How will LinkedIn's new cap on free messages to group members affect your business?

In case you didn't know, one of the greatest advantages of belonging to a LinkedIn Group is that you can message fellow group members without being connected to them. While you used to be able to send as many messages to group members as you wanted, as of a week ago, LinkedIn capped this feature to 15 free messages per month.

This limit even affects group owners and managers who need to be able to frequently communicate directly with members, such as if they are posting inappropriate content or breaking the rules. It also means limitations have been placed on using LinkedIn groups for lead generation.
