Reflection

In times of difficulty, Lord, we appreciate the support and encouragement of others. In better times we feel stronger and more secure. Remind us then to co-operate with other people and look out for the needs of others, being ready to offer a smile, a word, and other support and encouragement. Amen.

Greg's Message

Hello Parents and Friends of St. Anne’s
We had a pleasing “turn up” of families at our 5/6 Hospitality Mass last Sunday. A special thank you to our student readers, altar servers and those involved in the offertory procession for their valuable contribution to the mass. A reminder to our Year 6 students and their parents that we are hosting a Year 6 to Year 7 transition session this Thursday evening in the hall; I hope that all members of the Year 6 “crew” will attend this presentation.

Staffing
I welcome Andrea O’Flynn to our staff. Andrea will be teaching 5/6ML Monday through to Wednesday for the next seven weeks.

A combined meeting of the Parish Education Board and Parish Pastoral Council will be held in St Anne’s hall tonight at 7.30pm.

Foundation Orientation Program
Our 2020 Foundation Orientation Program will continue on Tuesday 29th October from 2pm until 3pm.

Religious Education

There are two months of the year which are dedicated to Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
This week, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we have installed in the multi-purpose hall a Walking Rosary. The Rosary is a well-known devotion to Mary, the Blessed Mother of Jesus. The purpose of this is for the children to become familiar with specific prayers with various mysteries that highlight key moments in the lives of Mary and Jesus.
The aim of the Walking Rosary is to create a peaceful environment ideal for meditation or quiet reflection.

As the children journey along, we ask Mary to pray for us, deepening our faith, hope and love.

Parish News

At last Friday’s parish planning meeting Fr. John advised that as from next year, our year 3 students will continue to make their Reconciliation.

Reconciliation will be celebrated on Thursday 22nd October, 2020 at 7:30pm.

First Eucharist will be celebrated in Year 4. This means that next year First Eucharist will only be offered to those year 4 students who didn’t receive this sacrament this year.

Confirmation will continue for our year 6 students. Confirmation will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Cathedral next year. It will be a combined celebration involving St Anne’s and St Bede’s candidates. Confirmation will occur on Sunday 9th August, 2020 at 2pm.

Student Representative Council Initiative

Don't forget we are still collecting plastic lids. We are asking all families to wash and save any plastic lids for you all to bring them to school.

Envision Hands, a company in Melbourne will then collect and break down the lids into different coloured special inks that are used in 3D printers. They will make artificial limbs for children living overseas.

We have set up boxes in the LLC for you to drop in your plastic coloured lids during Term 4. We would like to collect at least 1,000 lids so please save your milk and juice lids over the holidays and bring them in.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask one of the SRC people

Parents and Friends

NOTICE TO ALL PARENTS

The St Anne's Parent's and Friends Association Annual General Meeting will be held at 7:30pm on Wednesday 13th November in the Multi-Purpose Hall.

All parents are invited (enter via Windella Avenue).

All positions are open to nomination, but in particular we are looking to fill the following Executive Committee positions:

- Vice President
- Treasurer

The P&F Association Meetings take place once a month (11 per year), commencing at 7:30pm and finishing at 8:30pm at the latest.

Nomination applications are available through the skoolbag app.

2020 Class Representatives
We would also like parents to advise at this time if they would like to be a Class Representative in 2020, we require 1-2 parents per Year Group next year. The main role of the Class Representatives is to communicate with the families in your class / year group about events happening throughout the year such as Hospitality Mass and to assist with Mother's & Father's Day Stalls, Grandparent's Day and the Teacher's Lunch. The Class Representatives are lead by a Class Rep Co-ordinator.

2020 Fundraising Committee
We are also seeking expressions of interest to join the 2020 Fundraising Committee. We welcome new ideas for what the major fundraising event could be in 2020 (for the past two years we have held a Dinner Dance and the year prior was a Disco Night). If you would like to be part of this committee in 2020, please let us know.

If you have any questions regarding the above roles or any other P&F Association positions available, please contact the P&F Secretary Lisa Hodgkinson on lis_burns@yahoo.co.uk

School Disco

The St Anne's Primary School Disco is for all students (Foundation - Year 6). Due to supervisory and health & safety concerns, we are unable to accommodate siblings who do not currently attend St Anne's.

Tickets to the Disco must be booked online https://www.trybooking.com by Tuesday 19th November 2019 to ensure that we have a sufficient parent helper / student ratio available on the day. Tickets will not be sold on the day of the Disco.

Students attending the Disco cannot attend After School Care on the day of the Disco. They must be picked up from school at 3:25pm and signed-in to the Disco at 4:30pm.

We recommend that you provide a substantial snack for your children prior to the Disco as we will only be providing one bag of chips to each student at the Disco.

At the end of the Disco all students must be collected and signed-out from inside the Multi-Purpose Hall by an Adult.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED:

To ensure that everyone has a great time at the Disco, we need lots of parent / grandparent / carer support. If you are able to assist please sign-up at volunteersignup.org/KCDFD

Year 6 Commemorative Rugby Jerseys

Dear Parents of Year 6, 2020 Students

An exciting part of being in Year 6 is that all students enjoy having a Year 6 Commemorative Rugby Jersey.

You will be able to purchase a long-sleeved rugby jersey, which will be especially printed with 2020 on the back, together with all the Year 6 students names. The front will be embroidered with our school logo, similar to the current Year 6 jerseys.

Each child will be fitted before ordering and an array of sizes will be available for students to try on at school. Sample sizes will be delivered to the school the first week of Term 4.

The cost of the rugby jersey will be $66.00 and they will be delivered to school at the commencement of Term 1, on Friday 6th February 2020.

We will use an online ordering system, managed by Fashion Clubwear in Surrey Hills. The online shop will open on Wednesday 9th October and close on Wednesday 23rd October. Instructions and details of how to order are attached.

If you have any queries in relation to the Year 6 rugby jerseys, please contact Lisa Hodgkinson (P&F Secretary), on lis_burns@yahoo.co.uk

Kind regards
Lisa Hodgkinson
