Plenty to do around the region on Australia Day

Residents will have plenty of choices on Australia Day 2014 with Gladstone Regional Council continuing its Community Events Grants funding program.

Almost $5000 was awarded to community groups to host events in their areas on January 26.

These community events will complement the main regional Australia Day event to be held at the Gladstone Marina from 4pm to 8pm.

Residents can attend an Australia Day event near them at the following locations: Builyan, Miriam Vale, South End, Turkey Beach and Seventeen Seventy.

$25,000 allocated towards access near beach

Council has allocated $25,000 towards construction of vehicle access from Fingerfield Road to the Broadwater Conservation Park boundary at Rules Beach.

Construction of an entry point is dependent on State Government commitment.

Access to Rules Beach has been closed since January when flooding caused major erosion of beaches and loss of dunes. Read more…

 

Enjoy the GLNG Mayor's Carols by Candlelight

Make your way to the Gladstone Marina Parklands on Friday, December 6 to enjoy the free GLNG Mayor's Carols by Candlelight.

Gladstone region soloists and school choirs will entertain the crowd from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Highlights include the lighting of the Christmas tree, raffles and a fireworks display.

Food and drinks will be available from 5.30pm. No dogs, BYO tables or alcohol are permitted.

Parking at the venue will be available for a gold coin donation.
