From the Director’s Desk
We reached 100 this week in many ways! We have raised significantly more than 100 cans of food and we celebrated our 100th day of school with loads of activities. Check out our photo pages today to see these happenings.
The Food Drive continues through Monday, so you have one final weekend to participate. Go Falcons! On Tuesday, the food will be picked up by the group “Kindness” and distributed to identified needy families in and around Dushanbe. Thank you for your incredible support of this worthy cause.
Several events are coming up in the next month before spring break for you to get onto your calendar:
Literacy Week February 26 – March 2. See the flyer below. Three Literacy Week activities involve the active participation of parents. Please join us for these fun events. My favorite from last year was “Stories from Around the World.” This takes place on Tuesday when parents read stories in their native language to students. Friday morning’s Poetry Idol is also an annual highlight.
Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences - March 9. Sign-ups will soon be happening for these parent-student-teacher meetings to discuss progress
and goal setting as we head into the final stretch of the school year.
PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) for all 13 year old and Secondary I students is also on March 9 from 9 a.m. – Noon. This mandatory test will provide students and their families with helpful information as they continue into their high school education and prepare for university entrance. More information will be provided to individual families.
March 16 Navruz Celebration. Please mark it in your calendars. Families will be invited to participate in a lunch and performance celebration on Friday afternoon. You do not want to miss this incredible event!
It is the
time of year that we accept applications for scholarships for the 2018-2019 school year. QSI Dushanbe scholarships are offered to Tajik citizens and provide financial support of 50 to 90%. Following an application process, the Advisory Board awards scholarships in May. Please look for further information in this newsletter.
The much-needed rain and snow this week have left a feeling of freshness in the air. I am looking forward to getting outside!
Enjoy your weekend QSI Dushanbe community!
