1. Denmark probes pork link in Salmonella outbreak; strain is antibiotic resistant

Officials in Denmark are investigating a Salmonella outbreak with 32 cases and 19 hospitalizations. Initial information points to fresh pork as the source.

2. FDA names California romaine farm as CDC reports additional E. coli patients

They say the investigation is ongoing and more sources are possible, but as of this afternoon, the FDA is reporting traceback efforts in the ongoing E. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce has led to Adam Bros. Farm in Santa Maria, CA.

5. Vet groups issue statement on antimicrobial resistance, as Malaysia are to ban colistin in animal feed

American, Canadian and European Vets have released a Joint statement to guide the use of antimicrobials by veterinarians around the world, and also this week Malaysia is announcing a ban on colistin in animal feed, with India expected to follow.

6. ‘Something is going on’ Salmonella Typhimurium infections in France jump from 50 to 2500 per year in a decade

Salmonella contamination, found in cold cuts, mainly pork, exploded in 10 years in France, because of the progression of a new strain, called "monophasic typhimurium variant".

7. Statistics show mixed results on progress against foodborne illness in EU

Salmonella and Campylobacter infections were at a stable level during the past five years, but Listeria cases continue to rise in Europe, according to an annual report on trends and sources of zoonoses.
