1. Salmonella outbreak across 9 countries linked to raw, frozen poultry products

A Salmonella outbreak have been linked to frozen breaded chicken products; affecting eight European countries and the UK in the ongoing outbreak since May 2018. The most recent illnesses being reported in December 2020.

3. Russia reports first incidence of H5N8 in humans

Russian officials say they have confirmed what they describe as the first cases of highly pathogenic H5N8 avian influenza in humans, contracted from infected birds. The WHO still judge the overall risk from the virus to be low.
