Message from Professor Darrell Evans
A warm welcome to our new and returning sessional academic staff in 2019.
As a sessional academic staff member, you play a very important role in our University’s world-class education transformation, and through the UON Academy we aim to engage, support and recognise your valuable contributions.
The purpose of this newsletter is to keep you abreast of tools and information that will assist you in your role at the University and also showcase opportunities that are available to you – whether it be for networking or professional development.
I am very proud to be the Academic champion of the UON Academy and am looking forward to putting a focus on sessional academic staff as I continue to develop the Educator Network (tEN) throughout 2019.
I look forward to connecting with you this year through our various communication channels and networking events. I welcome feedback on the work we are doing, so please share your experiences and suggestions with me when you see me.
Alternatively, you can email me at uonacademy@newcastle.edu.au.
Happy reading!
Darrell Evans
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)

Be Heard. Use Your Voice.
A very big thank you for those who took the time to complete the Your Voice Sessional Academic Staff survey. A record 32% of sessional staff responded, which is very pleasing. We can’t wait to share the results with you in May/June and get to work on action planning for future UON Academy initiatives. Watch this space!
