Mitchell Memo March 2013

You Could Win as Delta Moves at MKE!

Delta Air Lines has been growing its presence at Mitchell and will begin operating from new digs on Concourse D beginning Wednesday, March 27.  The move from Concourse E will benefit Delta travelers because Concourse D has more security checkpoint lanes and additional food, beverage, and retail options.

The move also includes a new Delta SkyClub on Concourse D.  At nearly 5,000 square feet, the new Club will be almost twice the size of Delta’s current SkyClub on Concourse E.  The move happens on March 27, so be sure to confirm your gate assignment before heading to the security checkpoint.

You can help us celebrate Delta’s new location by signing up to win a Delta SkyClub daypass or annual membership.  Keep a close eye on our Mitchell Airport Facebook page, where we will  announce soon how you can register to win!

Spring Breakers Invade Mitchell Airport

Be sure to leave a little extra time before your next flight.  We’re at the height of the spring break travel period, and lines at the security checkpoint could be longer than normal during peak times.  We recommend you arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to your departure time, especially if you are checking luggage.

There are also some things you can do at the security checkpoint to make the process flow smoothly.  As always, make sure your pockets are completely empty, follow the TSA’s 3-1-1 rule, and remove your jackets and shoes.  Visit the TSA’s website for more information.

How to "Fly" Through U.S. Customs

Have you thought about applying for Global Entry, but don’t want to travel to Chicago for the interview?  Good news!  U.S. Customs and Border Protection has opened an enrollment center in Milwaukee.  Global Entry allows pre-approved, low-risk international travelers to bypass passport lines and instead use an automated self-service kiosk.  Apply here.

MKE vs. Winter

Winter got off to a slow start this year, but the snowfalls sure did pick up in February and March!  Mitchell Airport’s maintenance team did an outstanding job keeping our runways open for takeoffs and landings during these winter storms.  Click here to take a behind-the-scenes look at how our crews made it happen!

"Bernie Brewer" Flies on Southwest!

If you traveled through Mitchell Airport on February 21, you might have spotted Bernie Brewer!  He flew Southwest Airlines nonstop from Milwaukee to Phoenix for the Brewers’ spring training in Arizona.  Bernie even played a game of ping pong with fellow travelers in the airport’s Concession Mall.

Outstanding Customer Service

Customer service is always job one at Mitchell Airport.  Travelers Aid volunteers Karen L. and Diane B., and CPS Parking employee Kevin C., pictured at left, were presented with our Customer Service Award in January.  TSA Agents Rick B. and Robert M., pictured with Assistant Federal Security Director Rob Ronge, were the February recipients.  All were nominated by passengers who are impressed that MKE offers such friendly and professional staff to help travelers every step of the way.

You can help us recognize the people who make your travel experience more pleasant.  If you have received outstanding customer service from anyone at Mitchell Airport, please tell us about it!  Click here for the Customer Service Award nomination form.
