Click here In welcoming students back to term 2, I reminded them of the school’s Core Values of Respect, Responsibility and Do Your Best, which underpin all activities we undertake, be it in the classroom, at sport, on excursions or travelling to from school. It was very pleasing to see the majority of students were in full school uniform and prepared for learning and ready for a successful term ahead. A big thanks to everyone for completing the surveys. We are currently reviewing them and will provide a synthesis of the key outcomes to discuss with your faculty. These will then be used to establish milestones for the next two years. The team has also many exciting, fun suggestions to build our sense of wellbeing at our school. Watch this space." Charlie Nosworthy wins NS14 National TitlesOver the Easter holidays, Charlie competed with his dad at Soldiers Point, Nelson Bay in the NS14 (Northbridge Senior 14) national sailing titles. The National titles were postponed from last Christmas to this Easter. Charlie crewed with his dad steering on their NS14 named Water Rat. Charlie competed in a competitive field of sailors who sailed 7 races over 4 days. The regatta had a mixture of good south westerly and easterly winds to light and trying conditions. The final score for the regatta for Charlie was a score of 7 and their results were 5 first place, 1 second place and a discard of their lowest race score of a 3rd place. The 52nd National title has finally been won by Charlie and his dad after chasing the title for many years. Year 10 Geography Field TripThe Year 10 Geography field trip to Lake Cathie was an outstanding success. Poetry In Action PerformanceLast week, Year 8 students attended the Poetry in Action performance as part of their current English coursework on Poetry. Under 15 Girls Soccer TeamOn Monday 26th April the Under 15 girls soccer team played their first match in the Bill Turner Trophy. After giving up lots of their lunch breaks to train and get prepared they were excited for their first game. Unfortunately they played a very skill full and more experienced team from Taree High who took away the win. The Camden Haven girls should be proud of their sportsmanship and efforts. They didn't give up, still fighting and smiling till the final whistle. Looking forward to next year so we can do it all again. Cooper Blatchley - Australian Rowing Championships"Nationals was stressful, taking school away from us for a week, but well worth it, with our younger school boys quad (Myself, Zinc Bosco, Benjamin Hudson and Trephon Stambolie) taking away the 4th fastest time in the nation in the Open School Boy Coxed Quad Scull (SB4x+), battling through heats, repechages and finals with some of the best schools from around the nation including Newington College, Rockhampton Grammar School and Brisbane Boys College. This wasn’t accomplished without conflict however, as our bow seat (Trephon) injured his back previous to our race in the Finals, requiring my younger brother, Max, to jump into the boat as our new crew member for our final race at nationals! What a way to race your first 2kms in a boat! Despite our sudden rearrangement, our boat still managed to come across the finish line
with a fantastic time of 6 minutes and 57 seconds amidst some rough conditions. I was also very proud of everyone’s individual efforts throughout the early stages of the regatta, with Trephon competing intensely in the Men’s Under 17 Single Scull (MU17 1x), Benjamin and Zinc’s efforts in the Men’s Under 19 Double Scull (MU19 2x) and my own racing in the Men’s Under 19 Single Scull (MU19 1x). Overall, the regatta was a fantastic bonding experience for everyone in attendance, whilst also putting on an awesome catwalk of Olympians and truly showcasing the pinnacle of the sport in our great land of Aus!
