What has become clear over the last couple of weeks is that each HDR student has somewhat unique circumstances. Our labs are still open and many of you are continuing to make progress with your research. For others, there is real and unavoidable delay, for a multitude of reasons related to you individually or your project. And because these impacts will affect you in very different ways, we are taking several steps to support you and your progress: You may have seen that the University has developed a comprehensive Student Support Package to help you during these challenging times. The Package not only addresses your physical and mental wellbeing, but provides a safety net for those of you experiencing significant hardship and without access to support elsewhere. Furthermore, the University recognises that the pandemic brings a heightened degree of uncertainty, stress and anxiety. A Wellbeing Plan has been created and key support services have been scaled up. The Wellbeing Corona Corner is also a brilliant resource to cope with the challenge that 2020 has presented for us. Additionally, the University has made available up to 60 calendar days of COVID-19 Special Leave for those of you whose research is directly affected by the current circumstances and who are unable to undertake any research at the moment. This Special Leave will be financially supported for students who are presently in receipt of a University-funded stipend scholarship, and will be paid at the rate of 75 per cent of the standard scholarship rate. Further information and how to apply for the COVID-19 Special Leave can be found on our FAQ webpage. I am very well aware that these are difficult times for many of you. I urge you to make use of any of the above that may assist you. Take care and stay safe, Doreen Krumbiegel Tip of the Month Did you know that the Graduate Centre now has FAQs for research students impacted by COVID-19?
