EUPAVE will give a workshop on "Long-Life and Circular Concrete Pavements for Sustainable Cities and Regions" during the upcoming PIARC 26th World Road Congress in Abu Dhabi from 6 to 10 October 2019. The event, taking place Monday 7 October, will address questions related to the various principles of circular economy and sustainability related to concrete roads.

On Tuesday 18th June, EUPAVE held at the Thon Hotel EU in Brussels its 4th workshop on Best Practices in Concrete Paving. The theme for this year was “Hydraulically Bound Base Layers & Roller Compacted Concrete Pavements”. Attended by around 35 participants, the workshop gathered experts who have an interest in RCC in particular

EUPAVE released its latest publication entitled "Roller compacted concrete: making concrete pavements available to the whole pavement building industry" during the 4th workshop on Best Practices in Concrete Paving organised Tuesday 18th June in Brussels. 

The Annual German Concrete Pavement Conference will this year be held Thursday 26 and Friday 27 September in Aschaffenburg (Germany). All presentations will be translated in english.

News from the International Society for Concrete Pavements:

In a paper published in the Journal of Cleaner Production titled "Role of the use phase and pavement-vehicle interaction in comparative pavement life cycle assessment as a function of context" by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Concrete Sustainability Hub (MIT-CSHub)—Xin Xu, Mehdi Akbarian, Jeremy Gregory, and Randolph Kirchain—examine the use phase of pavements and calculate the influence of context on their environmental footprint.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has released a new Tech Brief titled "Permeable Interlocking Concrete Pavement" that presents an overview of permeable interlocking concrete pavement (PICP) and its use. General information is provided on PICP compositionwith a summary of benefits, limitations, and characteristics. Important considerations, such as hydrologic design, structural design, construction, and maintenance, are also provided.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT)  began work this spring on the 4th in a series of experimental pavement projects designed to determine if thicker pavement equals a longer lifespan.
