Click here NSC eUpdate Nov. 20, 2017Did You Know?Did you know that Therapist Assisted Online, or TAO, is a web-based program that provides assistance to help overcome anxiety, depression, relationships/communication, and substance use concerns? The program is available to all UCF faculty, staff and students with a knights email address. TAO is based on well researched and highly effective strategies for helping the above concerns, and can help clients track their moods in order to better regulate their behavior and emotions. Now you know.Founder's Day Call for Nominations Each year the college can name one undergraduate student to receive the UCF Founders’ Day Award, which provides recognition and a $500 award to the student who demonstrates exceptional ability in their discipline and major. This award is given at the Founders’ Day Convocation in April, and it is highly valued by the recipient. The minimum academic requirements are as follows: -Junior or senior standing at time of nomination Nomination packets, including the nomination form, a resume from the nominee, current degree audit and at least two faculty nomination letters, are due to Jana Jasinski in the COS dean's office by 5 p.m. on Dec. 1. Order of Pegasus Now Accepting Applications The Order of Pegasus is the highest achievement that students can attain while at UCF. This selective program recognizes exemplary performance by students in the areas of academic achievement, outstanding university involvement, leadership, and community service. Students who wish to be nominated must first complete an application, which is then reviewed by their college for further consideration by a university selection committee. Applications for the Order of Pegasus program must be submitted by Friday, Dec. 8. For program details and applications, please visit the Order of Pegasus website by clicking below. Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program If you are employed by a government or not-for-profit organization such as UCF, you may be able to receive loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program administered through the U.S. Department of Education. Bowl-A-Thon for Scholarships and Local Charities The Orlando alumnae chapter of Delta Theta Sorority Inc. in partnership with the Delta Education and Life Training Alliance Foundation of Orlando will be hosting a bowl-a-thon from 4 - 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16 at Aloma Bowl, located at 2530 Aloma Ave, Winter Park FL. Funds raised at the event will go to scholarships and local charities. Teams can register for $240 with a maximum of six team members, or $40 per person. Toys for Tots The UCF College of Sciences is once again proud participate in the Toys for Tots Program in collaboration with Staff Council and Veterans Academic Resource Center. The drive started Nov. 3 and will run until Dec. 7. Boxes will be picked up on Dec.8 at noon. COS has a donation box in the lobby in the College of Sciences/Dean’s Office. If you would like to donate, please bring an unwrapped appropriate toy and place it in the donation box. The drive is open to all, so please share this message with your students.
