Seasons Greetings from SwanCare! December 2019Opening of the swimming pool & gymResidents rejoice at the much-anticipated opening Last week saw the opening of the swimming pool & gym at SwanCare's brand new Leisure Precinct! Lucky too, it was just in time for Perth's record-breaking heat wave. The various Bentley Park clubs and groups will be gradually moved from other buildings to this new world-class facility in the New Year, with the official opening happening soon after. 2020 is definitely the start of a new era here at SwanCare! Grannies and Pops programStudents perform end of year dance for their adopted Grannies and Pops! Carson Street School have been coming to SwanCare Waminda every week for over five years thanks to an initiative that sees children living with a disability paired with residents to form friendships and to bridge the gap between generations. The bonds that they have formed are just beautiful and for many of the kids, the residents have become adopted grandparents. Their visits are usually filled with reading and writing, but the last visit for the year was filled with Christmas cheer, present exchanging and even a performance from the kids. Thank you to all involved in this wonderful program. Funding nod for WA technology centerSwanCare's HALO Technology hub will be opening in early 2020! SwanCare Bentley Park will soon be the home of a new centre that will provide a hands-on opportunity for seniors to explore and learn about the latest assistive technology products currently available. The centre, called the HALO (Home Assisted Living Options) Technology Hub, will be manned by a full time technology education officer, and will be open to seniors or other individuals with functional limitations. Funding has been granted to SwanCare by the Australian Government Department of Health to develop the centre, which will be presented as a demonstration house within a refurbished SwanCare home.
