Kia ora Ruth,

Auckland moves to Alert Level 3

In her announcement at 4pm today, Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern announced that Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 from 11:59pm, Tuesday 21 September for at least two weeks. The Government will review alert levels further on Monday 4 October.

Unitec campuses broadly remain closed under Alert Level 3 with exceptions

Teaching and learning

For most of us, things will stay the same.  Teaching and learning will largely remain online where possible.

For the small number of classes taught on campus (where returning to campus is necessary to meeting learning outcomes), these classes will commence in the week of Monday 27 September.

  • Please check Moodle, Student Portal and/or email communications from your class lecturer/s on any changes to your learning.

Health and safety at Alert Level 3

Those who are approved to return to campus will need to follow the measures put in place to ensure the safety of all ākonga (students), kaiako (teaching staff) and kaimahi (staff).  These include:

  • You will be required to wear a face covering.
  • You will be required to scan in using the Covid-19 tracer app (or complete the sign in form)
  • Classes will be taught in bubble sizes of 10 including the lecturer.
  • Seating in classes will be set up to allow physical distancing.
  • Movement will be limited while on campus.  This includes some adjustments for carparking to maintain distancing requirements.

Click and collect services

Under Level 3, printing and library resources will operate a click and collect service.

Copy Centre - printing can be collected from campus.  Please email the Copy Centre (copy@unitec.ac.nz) with your requirements.  You will then be notified of when and how to collect your printing.

Library - library resources can be requested online.  See instructions here on how to click and collect. You will be notified when and how to collect your library resources.

What we all need to do at Alert Level 3 to stay safe

  • KEEP YOUR BUBBLE SMALL: You must stay within your household bubble when you are not at work or school.  Everyone should work from home if they can.  If you need to, you can expand it to bring in close family, isolated people or caregivers.
  • WEAR A FACE COVERING: You are encouraged to wear a face covering when you cannot maintain physical distance from others.  In some situations, you legally must wear a face covering.  For example on public transport and in public venues.
  • KEEP TRACK OF WHERE YOU HAVE BEEN: Use the NZ Covid-19 tracer app if you can.
  • MAINTAIN GOOD HYGIENE:  It is important that you use basic hygiene measures, including washing your hands, coughing or sneezing into your elbow, and cleaning surfaces.
  • GET TESTED: If you are experiencing cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms call your GP or Healthline and get advice about being tested.
  • VACCINATION: Information on how to get you, your whānau and bubble mates vaccinated is available here. You can get this done without a booking at the Auckland Airport Park & Ride Vaccination centre, 42 Verissimo Drive, Māngere or The Trusts Arena, 65 Central Park Drive, Henderson . Please see details here
