Reflection

Lord our God, we pray that, no matter what happens to us, we may grow as people who are generous enough to hold no hatred or bitterness towards anyone. Amen.

Greg's Message

Hello Parents and Friends of St. Anne’s
Welcome back everyone to Term 4. I trust that everyone enjoyed their break - I’m certain that the Richmond supporters did!

Congratulations
Congratulations to Isla P (1/2C), Florence R (F/1WM), Eli G (1/2C) and Lucas T(1/2C) who completed the 20km “Ride around the Bay” to raise money for the Smith Family charity last Sunday. This is a great effort by all four students.

Kaboom
The introduction to our Term 4 Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies focus starts with Kaboom! All St Anne's students will be required to wear their sports uniform on Wednesday October 16th to participate in a series of fun outdoor activities led by our Yr 6 leaders. As well as providing leadership opportunities there is a big focus on teamwork and cooperation in a fast paced program to get our bodies moving.

Foundation Parent Information Night
There will be a Foundation Parent Information Night on Thursday October 10th at 7pm.
This session is for Foundation 2020 parents only.

Foundation Orientation Program
Our 2020 Foundation Orientation Program will be held on the following Tuesdays:
October 15th, 22nd and 29th from 2pm-3pm.

STAFFING
As previously advised, Julie Millsom’s final day at St Anne’s will be Wednesday 16th October. I thank Julie for her significant contribution to St. Anne’s as a teacher and in various roles of leadership. On behalf of the school community I wish Julie every best wish for the future. Julie’s replacement will be Andrea O’Flynn. Andrea has worked at St. Anne’s previously and is looking forward to teaching 5/6ML. Welcome back to Fiona Waywood. Fiona is back in F/1WM teaching Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

School Fees
We still have a significant amount of school fees outstanding. For those concerned your attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Our next hospitality mass will be held at 10:30am on Sunday 20th October. The 5/6 classes will be our hosts. I look forward to seeing many families from all year levels in attendance.

We would appreciate it if each family could please bring along a plate for morning tea.

If you can help with set up, serving or  clean up, please let your Year 5/6 Class Rep know.

Year 6 Commemorative Rugby Jerseys

Dear Parents of Year 6, 2020 Students

An exciting part of being in Year 6 is that all students enjoy having a Year 6 Commemorative Rugby Jersey.

You will be able to purchase a long-sleeved rugby jersey, which will be especially printed with 2020 on the back, together with all the Year 6 students names. The front will be embroidered with our school logo, similar to the current Year 6 jerseys.

Each child will be fitted before ordering and an array of sizes will be available for students to try on at school. Sample sizes will be delivered to the school the first week of Term 4.

The cost of the rugby jersey will be $66.00 and they will be delivered to school at the commencement of Term 1, on Friday 6th February 2020.

We will use an online ordering system, managed by Fashion Clubwear in Surrey Hills. The online shop will open on Wednesday 9th October and close on Wednesday 23rd October. Instructions and details of how to order are attached.

If you have any queries in relation to the Year 6 rugby jerseys, please contact Lisa Hodgkinson (P&F Secretary), on lis_burns@yahoo.co.uk / 0468 461 244.

Kind regards
Lisa Hodgkinson

These clinics are funded by Sporting Schools.  Sporting Schools is a $200 million Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children's participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities.

On these days students are to wear their school sports uniform.

Student Wellbeing

Savouring the moment

Find something to savour right now in the present moment. Use your senses to find something that you are experiencing now that is enjoyable. It might be the sound of a bird outside, an object in the room that you are interested in, the feeling of your hands resting in your lap, the sunshine or breeze coming in through a window or just relaxing and sitting quietly. Nothing else is required of you right now except to notice something and appreciate it.

Your challenge is to notice something (which can be large or small) and transform it into something even better by becoming fully immersed in it. Notice, pay attention and appreciate what you are experiencing right now. We will be silent for one minute and savour.

For further savouring delights commit to savouring one other experience today. It can be an enjoyable meal, a run or walk in nature, washing your hands, listening to your favourite music, or a conversation with one of your favourite people. All you need to do is slow down, notice, appreciate and enjoy.

Main message:

“Ultimately, time is all you have, and the idea isn’t to save it, but to savour it.” — Ellen Goodman

Student Representative Council Initiative

Don't forget we are still collecting plastic lids. We are asking all families to wash and save any plastic lids for you all to bring them to school.

Envision Hands, a company in Melbourne will then collect and break down the lids into different coloured special inks that are used in 3D printers. They will make artificial limbs for children living overseas.

We have set up boxes in the LLC for you to drop in your plastic coloured lids during Term 4. We would like to collect at least 1,000 lids so please save your milk and juice lids over the holidays and bring them in.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask one of the SRC people

Footy Colours Day
The students raised $136.00 to go towards the 'Fight Cancer Footy Colours Day'
