No images? Click here Summer greetings from NewsWise! One last newsletter before August to share our highlights from the summer term! The challenges of the past four months have also brought opportunities and some real positives: wonderful videos from children as Happy News reporters; webinars that reached as far as the Western Isles in the UK and the Philippines globally; videos by journalist volunteers in lockdown; our family pack for home learning, which became one of our most popular resources ever! As well as looking back, we're looking forward to the new term: with many schools planning a wellbeing strategy, we have lots of resources to help. And look out for more on virtual workshops in the new year. Have a great summer everyone! Happy News reportsWe absolutely loved watching all the Happy News video reports by children, sent in by teachers and parents - watch a selection here - guaranteed to make you grin! Keep sending them in... Wide-reaching webinarsWe were blown away by the reaction to our online teacher training and loved meeting people from all over the UK and beyond: we'll be continuing these in the new year - so sign up to join in! Wellbeing curriculumIf you're planning a wellbeing focus to support children as they return to school, check out our wellbeing resources, feelings about news lesson and PSHE Association blog on exploring the news in a healthy, safe way! Fake or for real?A viral photo for the last fake or real before the summer: a giant bat rumoured to be the size of a human is ... not giant. It is still big for a bat, but as Science Alert explain, their bodies are only about 30cm long. It's another example of forced perspective playing tricks on us! Have your sayAre there any resources that you would find useful for the new academic year or a wellbeing curriculum? Have you used any of the NewsWise home learning resources? If you have any comments, questions or suggestions about how we can help you during this time we’d love to hear from you.
