#23 Sid Shares Hey you, A very Happy May to you and yours. I hope you had a wonderful April and started to emerge from lockdown. Let's hope we all stay safe and healthy. Here is my May monthly dose of “Sid Shares.” A list of what I’m enjoying and exploring. The above pic is of Beatrice (far left), Florence (next left and asleep), me (now with short hair thank goodness) and fabulous Freddie, all enjoying an early start. I'm dedicating May to 'Energy'. What fascinates me is where and how it originates. In physics terms, energy is the quantitative property that must be transferred to an object in order to perform work on, or to heat, the object (thanks Wikipedia). But, in human terms what is it, how do we create it, how do we use it and how comes there are times I'm bursting with it, and sometimes I'm really not? So here's what I've discovered... Did you know that energy is invisible? Yet it’s all around us and throughout the universe. We use it every day, we have it in our bodies and some of it comes from other planets! Energy can never be made or destroyed, but its form can be converted and changed. How cool is that! Also, there’s an enormous amount of energy inside each of us? There’s a whole bunch of potential energy contained within all the atoms and molecules in your body. If you were to unleash all the energy in your body, you’d generate an explosion equivalent to 30 hydrogen bombs. And this energy isn’t just found in our bodies. Everything with mass – every rock, life-form, and planet – has a huge amount of potential energy. But, if all that's true how comes I often lack energy and inertia? For me it comes down to purpose (reason for being. desire, passion, mojo, vitality, verve, etc). And if any of those are missing, or dulled then my energy doesn't awaken fully or flourish. There is a great saying "that your energy flows where you focus goes". Tony Robbins talks about it in this short clip and I agree. Whenever I feel a lack of ooomph (energy) I try to create a spark that'll ignite mine. I like watching things and recently watched a masterclass by Anna Wintour. Anna is an British-American journalist who served as editor-in-chief of Vogue since 1988 and global chief content officer for Condé Nast since 2020; she is also artistic director of Condé Nast and global editorial director of Vogue. If you have a spare 45 minutes give it a watch. I'm not a huge fan of horse racing but was recently captivated by Rachael Blackmore winning the Grand National. What I love is her love of Minella Times, the horse who brilliantly carried her to victory. She watched National Velvet as a child and dreamed of winning the Grand National. Her energy and passion is incredible and I love this quote she gave after winning "I just hope it shows it doesn't matter, male or female. Plenty of people have gone before me and done that - Katie Walsh was third here on Seabass. All those things help girls coming along, but I don't think it's a major talking point any more". This quote is from Bill Bryson “Energy is liberated matter, matter is energy waiting to happen.” Please join me on my monthly Facebook Live sessions to help change or shift the energy in your life.
