Three new cases of African Swine Fever in Germany’s eastern Brandenburg region brings the total number of confirmed cases to 94 since 10 September.

4. Ban on plant-free ‘sausages’ and ‘burgers’ rejected by MEPs

Proposals have been denied to retain meat related names for products containing meat, such as sausages and burgers. This comes as restrictions on dairy products get tighter.

5. Two new E. coli outbreaks with genetic links to past Romaine

Two new outbreaks of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli O157: H7 (STEC) illnesses that have genetic links to past outbreaks are being investigated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control, and Prevention (CDC).

9. Food safety focus included in hospital review

Following a fatal Listeria outbreak in the UK, the plans to improve food safety are included in a review into hospital food. This was instructed in 2019 by Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock.

11. Salmonella the top offender involving INFOSAN
