Full-time RA Position in the Psychology Department at Carnegie Mellon University
Highly motivated, responsible, and professional research assistant needed to assist in all aspects of a large, federally-funded, longitudinal clinical trial examining responses to alcohol consumption and the development of alcohol use disorder (AUD). This is a full-time position with benefits in the Psychology Department at Carnegie Mellon University (including tuition reimbursement for those wanting to pursue a Master’s degree at CMU). Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Major responsibilities will include helping to do the following: recruit and schedule research participants, run community participants through sensitive research procedures (including alcohol administration protocols and structured clinical interviews to diagnose AUD; training will be provided), prepare materials for research studies, perform video and audio recording assessments, program ecological momentary assessment surveys and monitor incoming data, train and supervise undergraduate research assistants, code video data using established coding systems (e.g., Ekman’s Facial Action Coding System; FACS; training will be provided), input data, analyze data, track participants for follow-up sessions, attend lab meetings, maintain lab rooms/supplies/equipment, and prepare manuscripts. Helping with other lab studies and lab-related tasks will also be required.
Interested applicants should have a B.A. or B.S. in psychology or a related field. Candidates must have prior psychological research experience and knowledge of experimental methods in psychology, excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, exemplary written and oral communication, and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Applicants must have strong interpersonal skills and be comfortable interacting with diverse people in the community. This position is ideal for individuals interested in gaining additional research experience before applying to graduate school in psychology.

Research Assistant Position in Neuroimaging, Puberty, and Psychosis
Dr. Katherine SF Damme is hiring a full-time Research Assistant I /II for her new lab in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas. The lab’s research focuses on leveraging neurodevelopment in childhood and adolescence to understand the risks of mental illness and how to promote healthy transitions to adulthood. Currently, we are running several projects with typically developing and clinical risk populations (e.g., psychosis, depression) focusing on hormones, neurodevelopment, biomarkers, and scale development. We use a wide variety of behavioral, modeling, and neuroimaging techniques.
Join our team and be involved with collecting and writing up data from any and all of these great and innovative multimodal studies. This position will provide technical assistance supporting various research projects and conduct research activities according to research protocol. Research activities may include some or all of the following: patient recruiting and screening, traditional laboratory experiments & activities, informatics, and/or animal laboratory work.
This is an ideal position for someone interested in building more skills before applying for graduate school in the next few years. You will get in-depth experience in multidisciplinary research and intensive neuroimaging training, build data skills, publish papers, attend conferences, and make connections with a number of different psychopathology and neuroscience research groups.
