Become a member today! No Images? Click here Dear Friends, So many of you have stepped up over the last week and become new members of the BCCLA. Now we are over half way to our goal of welcoming 100 new members! There's still time for you to be part of this movement. Will you stand with us today? Our work is only possible with the support of our members. With your help, we will continue our fight to end solitary confinement in Canadian prisons. Rather than accept the court's historic decision, the federal government has decided to fight to continue using torture against prisoners. The government has continued to ignore the brave incarcerated people who stepped forward and spoke the truth of their lived experiences during our trial. We will continue to stand with them to end this torture. Take a stand for what you believe in by becoming a member today. We'll continue to fight alongside the folks who are seriously ill and living in intolerable suffering, to ensure that they are given the choice to live and to end their lives at the time and in the manner they wish. We'll expand our work to confront bias in policing, working with affected communities to challenge mistreatment and discrimination against racialized people, and especially Indigenous women, by police. And we'll continue working to end Safe Third Country, an agreement with the U.S. that endangers refugees who try to enter Canada via the U.S. by refusing their claim before it can be heard. It assumes that the U.S. is a safe country for refugees, but the Trump Administration’s practice of separating kids from their families, and their public rejection of international law, make it clear that this is not the case. Annual memberships are just $35 or as low as $10 for students and low-income supporters. Our rights depend on our willingness to defend them. By joining the BCCLA today, you'll be doing your part to defend and advance freedom and equality. Sincerely, Catherine Hart Supporter Relations Manager |
