An Update from our CEO

One of the greatest privileges of my role is the opportunity to spend time with our members and witness first-hand the projects, investments and people helping shape Wyndham's future. Every conversation, site visit and event reinforces what I already know, our region is full of passionate leaders who are committed to making Wyndham an even better place to live, work, invest and do business.

Over the past month, we have had the opportunity to explore some of Wyndham's most significant developments, from learning about the vision behind Club Tarneit with Dennis Family Corporation to touring the new Werribee Mercy Hospital Emergency Department ahead of its opening. We have also celebrated important milestones with our members, including Melbourne Avalon Airport's expanding international freight connections and the opening of Wyndham's first Radiation Therapy Centre.

These experiences are a timely reminder that behind every major investment are people and organisations working together to create lasting outcomes for our community.
The Committee for Wyndham is proud to play a role in bringing business, government and community leaders together to share ideas, strengthen relationships and help ensure our region continues to prosper.

Shaping Wyndham's Future:
Insights from Dennis Family Corporation

On Tuesday 7 July, Committee for Wyndham members attended our highly anticipated Business Leaders Lunch, proudly sponsored by Dennis Family Corporation.
The event provided a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the developments helping shape Wyndham’s future.

Guests heard from Dennis Family Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Peter Levinge, who shared the organisation’s history, vision, current projects and the developments driving growth across our region. Peter also spoke about Dennis Family Corporation’s role in delivering Club Tarneit, the impressive community facility now proudly managed by the Werribee Football Club.

Members also enjoyed an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Club Tarneit with Werribee Football Club CEO Mark Penaluna. Mark shared that the conversation about the Werribee Football Club’s involvement in managing Club Tarneit first began at a Committee for Wyndham event back in 2018, a wonderful example of how bringing the right people together can create lasting outcomes for our community.

A big thank you to Dennis Family Corporation, Peter Levinge, Mark Penaluna, the Werribee Football Club, Tanya Inkret and the team at Club Tarneit for a fantastic afternoon, and to all our members who joined us.

Members Tour: Wyndham's New
Emergency Department Expansion

Committee for Wyndham members recently had the opportunity to tour the new Werribee Mercy Hospital Emergency Department, gaining a first-hand look at one of the region's most significant health infrastructure investments.

Hosted by Mercy Health, the exclusive members-only tour provided valuable insight into the expansion, which will significantly increase the hospital's emergency care capacity to better meet the needs of our rapidly growing community.

Members heard about the new facilities, the additional treatment spaces and the improved patient experience, while also learning about the important role the expansion will play in supporting Wyndham's future health needs.

The tour reinforced the importance of continued investment in health infrastructure across Melbourne's west and provided members with a greater understanding of the planning and collaboration required to deliver projects of this scale.

A sincere thank you to Brad Van Ooi and the Mercy Health team for generously hosting our members and providing such an informative behind-the-scenes experience and we look forward to its opening in the coming months.

Introducing the West Party to our members

Election Conversation: The West Party on Tuesday, 25 August.

This interactive morning tea will give members the opportunity to hear directly from The West Party about their vision and priorities for Melbourne's west, while also sharing the issues, opportunities and challenges facing their businesses.

As an independent and non-partisan organisation, the Committee for Wyndham will continue to provide opportunities for members to engage with representatives from a range of political parties in the lead-up to the Victorian State Election.

In Conversation with Mrs Bev McArthur MP

The Committee for Wyndham has invited members to a Roundtable Morning Tea with Mrs Bev McArthur MP - Member for Western Victoria in the Legislative Council and Shadow Minister for Small Business and Shadow Minister for Local Government.

This intimate discussion will provide Committee for Wyndham members with the opportunity to engage directly with Mrs McArthur on the issues shaping Victoria's business environment and the challenges and opportunities facing one of Australia's fastest-growing regions.

Designed as an open and interactive conversation, the roundtable will encourage members to share their experiences, raise local priorities, and contribute to a constructive discussion on matters affecting businesses across Wyndham and Melbourne's west.

Connecting Willing Workers with Local Employers

People with a criminal record are often ready to work - but too many still struggle to access real job opportunities. At the same time, employers across Wyndham are facing workforce shortages and growing skills gaps. The challenge isn’t whether people can work; it’s whether our systems are set up to connect them to employers who need them.

The Second Chance Employment Forum - being hosted by Wyndham CEC, a Committee for Wyndham member - will bring together employers, employment providers, community organisations and government to focus on what actually works in second‑chance employment - and how we can apply those approaches locally. This is a working forum, not just a panel discussion.

The aim is for attendees to leave with new insights, new connections and at least one practical action they can take back to their workplace.

Committee for Wyndham Attends Launch of Wyndham's First Radiation Therapy Centre

Committee for Wyndham CEO Leanne Down was pleased to attend the official launch of GenesisCare's new Radiation Therapy Centre at St Vincent's Private Hospital Werribee.

The state-of-the-art facility is the first of its kind in Wyndham and represents a significant milestone for Melbourne's west, providing local access to life-changing cancer treatment for thousands of residents.

Guests heard from representatives of GenesisCare, St Vincent's Private Hospital Werribee, government representatives and clinical leaders, who shared the vision behind the project and the positive impact it will have on patients and their families.

For many years, people in Melbourne's west have been required to travel long distances for radiation therapy while undergoing cancer treatment. The new centre will reduce that burden by delivering high-quality care closer to home.

As one of Australia's fastest-growing regions, continued investment in health infrastructure is essential. This important addition strengthens the East Werribee health precinct and reinforces Wyndham's growing reputation as a centre for world-class healthcare, education and research.

Avalon Airport Expands Global Freight Connections

Committee for Wyndham member Melbourne Avalon Airport continues to strengthen its position as a leading international freight and logistics gateway, recently announcing two significant milestones that will boost trade opportunities for Victoria.

The airport welcomed the inaugural scheduled Saudia Cargo service, establishing Australia's first direct scheduled air freight connection with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The new service will strengthen supply chains and provide Victorian exporters with faster access to markets across the Middle East and beyond.

Avalon Cargo Melbourne also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with global aviation services provider dnata, part of the Emirates Group. The partnership will explore opportunities to enhance freight capability, improve supply chain efficiency and attract additional international cargo services through Melbourne Avalon Airport.

Conveniently located between Wyndham and Geelong, Avalon Airport continues to grow as more than a passenger airport, playing an increasingly important role in freight, logistics and international trade.

The Committee for Wyndham congratulates Melbourne Avalon Airport on these important achievements, which will support economic growth and create new opportunities for businesses across Melbourne's west and Victoria.

Callout to Industry Experts to Shape Victoria's
Future Supply Chain Workforce

Committee for Wyndham member The Gordon is recruiting experienced logistics, warehousing, and transport professionals to teach in the TLI30319 Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations program. This casual role offers the chance to share real‑world industry knowledge with apprentices and trainees, deliver practical workplace‑connected training, and help develop the next generation of supply chain talent.

Applicants should hold a Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations (or higher), a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and have at least five years of recent industry experience, along with strong WHS and Chain of Responsibility knowledge.

There is flexibility for exceptional candidates who are still completing their Certificate IV or whose industry qualifications are no longer current.
