August at Cove ParkThis is a particularly busy month and we are pleased to welcome artists from throughout Scotland and the UK, Australia, Germany, Japan and the USA. Cove Park's Experimental Film & Moving Image programme continues this month with both the Scotland-based artists Mark Briggs and Annie Crabtree taking part. Our Visual Arts programme sees the arrival of Emilia Beatriz (Glasgow), Giles Round (London) and Nobuko Tsuchiya (Yokohama). Nobuko joins us as part of our ongoing Scotland/Japan Residency Exchange Programme and we are delighted that the artist Nao Nishihara will also be in Scotland in September for his residency at Hospitalfield in Arbroath. Our European Residency Programme runs throughout the year and this month we host the Frankfurt-based literary translator Bettina Münch on a residency developed in partnership with Literarisches Colloquium Berlin. Bettina's residency runs in parallel with those of writers Jan Carson (Belfast) and Rebecca Raeburn (Edinburgh), both taking part in the funded Literature programme. We will also welcome the London-based ceramicist Alice Walton in August as part of our Crafts & Design programme, working alonsgide ceramicist Natalie Weinberger (New York) and weaver Raisa Kabir (London). 20th Anniversary Archive Project:
Internship Opportunity for PhD StudentIn 2020, Cove Park marks its 20th anniversary. A year-long programme is being planned to celebrate this milestone and look forward to the next 20 years, with fellowships, residency exchanges, commissions and events. Ahead of this, we would like to draw together the various strands of our history through an archive project. Further information is available here. Cove Park is delighted to be one of a number of organisations participating in the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities internship scheme. SGSAH organises
internships for PhD researchers to spend up to three months at a partner host organisation, enabling them to enhance their research skills in a wide variety of contexts. SGSAH will pay interns the equivalent of an UKRI stipend rate for the duration of the internship and can help with travel and accommodation costs. The programme is open to arts and humanities PhD students in Scotland, regardless of funding source (please see the SGSAH website for eligibility criteria). Please apply via the SGSAH website here. The deadline for applications is Monday 16th September 2019. Image from Cove Park's Archive: 'Autoxylopyrocycloboros', Simon Starling, 2006, Commissioned by Cove Park.
