To address the shortage, the STFM Foundation launched a fund-raising campaign to provide increased support for programs and scholarships specifically for URM students, residents, and new faculty. Education ColumnResidents as Partners in the Creation, Implementation, and Evaluation of a Regional CME Course: An Innovative Way to Foster Residents’ Academic DevelopmentA regional CME event was created to serve as a faculty development tool for residents. Opportunities for collaboration were extended to residents in two phases. In the first 2 years, residents participated as speakers at the course and afterward, residents with an interest in academia were given the opportunity to partner with junior faculty as course codirectors. New Health Equity Fellowship and the Aging in America SummitThe Family Medicine for America’s Health Health Equity Team and the American Academy of Family Physicians has launched the Health Equity Fellowship program. Two fellows participate in a 12-month health equity fellowship aimed at developing family medicine physicians as leaders with subject matter expertise in the social, institutional, and cultural influences that impact health. Health is Primary is a sponsor of the Alliance for Health Policy's series on Aging in America, a thought leader summit on October 10 and a congressional briefing on December 7 in Washington, DC.
