October 1916 in Glen Forrest and Midland Railway Workshops in Western Australia - the final month of the Australian referendum on Conscription. Should Australian men be made to go to war or should they be volunteers? A question that bitterly divides families, organisations and finally the whole country. But people still fell in love, went to work, worried about their sons, brothers and husbands overseas, organised fetes and dressed up to go to the moving pictures in Midland. Meanwhile, the great adventure of WWI continued in Europe...

Carols in the Valley

Saturday 8 December
Come along and enjoy a picnic with some of the rescued animal friends while enjoying festive tunes in the peaceful surrounds of the Valley of Hope. There will be a cruelty free sausage sizzle, bake sale, fete stalls, PVAS merchandise, face painting for the kids (and adults!) and a nativity. Jingle Bells Forest Trails

Escape the madness of the shops and head to the Perth Hills for a relaxing twilight trail, where the only sound you will hear will be the birds, the gentle clip clop of hooves and the sound of the bells on the harness as you ride through the forest. Exceed Super Sprint Triathlon at Lake Leschenaultia

Sunday 9 December
Race 2 of The Exceed Super Sprint Triathlon makes its way to Lake Leschenaultia. This is a 3 race series of draft legal triathlon. This fast and furious style racing has some of the most skilled and elite triathletes in Australia racing as well as junior and youth triathletes vying for spots on the WA School Sports team. Chidlow Christmas Carols and Markets

This could be a great way to get yourself into the Christmas Groove! Pick up up a locally made gift from the markets held in the Old Chidlow Hall, then head over to the Village Green and join in the carol singing.  Bring your picnic, rug and plenty of Christmas Spirit. There will also be food trucks to pick up a bite on the night, plus a special visit from You know who!

A Day in the Forrest

Saturday 15 December
A Day In The Forrest is back again for its 4th instalment of live music, food, markets, bowls, classic cars and overall good vibes!

Over the day, there will be 14 bands across two stages. There will be plenty of couches to kick back on, delicious food to choose from, markets to wander through, classic cars to admire and plenty of club-priced beer to drink.

The event kicks off at 11am and runs through until 7pm with the headline band playing on the Magnolia stage from 6pm to 7pm. The club will stay open after 7pm for anyone in the mood to party on into the night!

Mundaring District Museum - Made in Mundaring exhibition

Throughout December
This new temporary exhibition explores the many marvellous items that have been ‘Made in Mundaring’. From the granite slabs quarried at Mahogany Creek for the Perth GPO to the beautiful stained-glass windows made in Greenmount by Gowers & Brown, the range of building materials, foods, domestic objects, artworks, and inventions made locally is extraordinary. The labour and creativity of people in the past, and in the present, is acknowledged in the array of objects displayed, and in the stories of the individuals who made them. Museum open Mon-Sat 9.30am-4pm, Sun & public hols 10am-2.30pm. Closed 25 & 26 December.
