Packed program for Cinema Under Starlight

FAMILIES can enjoy free movies under the stars in 2016 with the return of Shire of Mundaring’s Cinema Under Starlight series. Gates open at 6pm and there are face painters at each screening. Food and refreshments are available for sale at each event. Films begin around 8pm once the sun goes down. Read more here.

Feedback on 10-year community vision

SHIRE of Mundaring is seeking feedback on draft documents which capture results from recent Mundaring 2026 consultation. The Shire held a series of workshops, as well as online engagement, to find out the community’s long term vision, values, and aspirations. Draft outputs have been collated and are now available to view online as part of the final stage of consultation. The documents will help form the 2016-26 Strategic Community Plan.

Sculpture Park to open by March

WORKS at Mundaring Community Sculpture Park are steaming ahead, with the play zone due to open by March 2016.

The $1.06million project will have new equipment, a tunnel and boardwalk bridge. There will be a nature play element, a large wooden Ornate Crevice Dragon. Fencing will remain up until the play zone is completed. Read more here.

Christmas / New Year operating hours and waste collection dates

The Shire Administration Centre will close at 3pm on Thursday 24 December and re-open at 9am on Monday 4 January. For the opening hours of other Shire facilities, please click here.

Waste collection dates
All scheduled waste collections for Christmas Day (Friday, 25 December) will take place Saturday, 26 December. Collections for New Year’s Day (Friday, 1 January) will take place Saturday, 2 January. All other waste collections will take place as usual.
All transfer stations will be closed Christmas day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. For opening hours please click here.

Community Art Project underway

THREE sculptures will be installed in the Shire of Mundaring in coming months as part of a Community Art Project. As part of the recovery process from the 2014 Parkerville, Stoneville, Mt Helena Bushfire, community feedback had been sought for the Project.

Three metal artworks will be installed near the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail heads in Parkerville, Stoneville and Mount Helena early nexy year. Read more here.

Celebration of Ability Award nominations open

SHIRE of Mundaring’s Celebration of Ability Award returns in 2016, with nominations now open. The Celebration of Ability Award is an annual award which acknowledges those who include people with disability in their business, community and personal activities.

Nomination forms are available at locations throughout the Shire including the Shire Administration Building, local libraries and The Hub of the Hills. Read more here.

Late Vacswim enrolments

BILGOMAN Aquatic Centre is open every day over the Christmas period, excluding Christmas Day.
Vacswim lessons run in two sessions in January.
Program 1 Tuesday 29 December – Friday 8 January
Program 2 Monday 11 January – Friday 22 January
A five-day program runs Monday 4 – Friday 8 January.
Late enrolments will be taken for all programs on Monday 28 December from 11am – 1pm.
Swimming and squad lessons are also offered at the Centre.

Volunteers recognised at event

DOZENS of volunteers who enhance the lives of people in the Shire of Mundaring were thanked for their efforts at recent event. The annual Thank a Volunteer Day (TAVD) was held at the Shire on Sunday 22 November.
