Office of the Provost

Dear Graduate and Professional Students,

Congratulations to all the Spring 2021 graduates—you did it! We are so proud of your accomplishments during your time at Pitt and grateful for all your contributions to our University community.

This was one of the most challenging academic years any of us can remember, and you persevered with grace and compassion for others. You came together as a community to study, ask difficult questions, solve pressing problems, check in on each other, and even exercise for a virtual fitness challenge. Although the COVID-19 pandemic does not define your graduate experiences, we believe that the strength and resilience you have shown over the past year demonstrate that you will be ready for any challenge as you make your mark on the world. We know you will go on to make the world a better place, whatever your post-graduation plans may be.

The Pitt Alumni Association has created A Tribute to Our Pitt Graduates video for the graduating class of 2021 which we hope you will watch. GPSG President Malena Hirsch’s video appears at the 2:17 minute marker and Vice Provost Godley’s message appears at the 5:17 minute marker.

Have a wonderful summer!
