October 2019 Hi , Welcome to October's Coordinator Connect. In this issue, we encourage you to secure your venues for next year and offer tools to assist with planning your events. We have also compiled some 'Top Topics' from recent meetings and webinars that you might like to discuss at your next meeting. In 'Network News', we put the spotlight on a panel discussion recently held in Bunbury WA and we provide a peek into what the networks in Western Victoria are doing. Friendly Reminders Please send in any invoices from past meetings or use the reimbursement form to claim meeting expenses and don't forget to send your attendance sheets if you haven't already. Thank you in advance! Trish Clarke Venue Bookings The MHPN Project Officer team have noticed an increase in community events taking place at the same venues as network meetings. This can have an impact on available dates for network meetings. One suggestion is to project the meeting dates for next year, based on this year's meeting dates. The planning tool and calendar may assist in the advance planning of your events as you can record your projected dates before booking your preferred venues. Top TopicsSuicidality in children, social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and trauma have been topics of interest across the MHPN platform recently. Suicidality in Children On World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September) we caught up with Dr Lyn O'Grady, to reflect on the webinar held earlier in the year. See the full interview and read more... Your network might like to use the Suicide ideation in primary school-aged children webinar recording alongside the interview to encourage discussion at your next meeting. The how to use a webinar as meeting content fact sheet might be helpful in setting up your meeting. Webinar Catch Up Watch the interdisciplinary panelists discuss supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You might like to view the recording as a group to encourage discussion, the supporting resources recommended by the panel and the case study might also be useful to discuss at your meeting. Trauma and the Interdisciplinary Approach Recently we interviewed network coordinators Alikki Russell, Serena King and Janet Renner about an interdisciplinary approach to posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex posttraumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD).
