Applications now open: Celebrating research with a real-world impact 
Researchers whose work has made a real-world difference to health policy, programs or service delivery are invited to apply for the 2016 Research Action Awards. The Sax Institute established the annual awards last year to recognise high-impact public health and health services research. Eligible researchers from our Ordinary Member organisations have until 19 September to submit their applications for this year's awards.

How we perform: the results of our evaluation

An evaluation of the Sax Institute's work shows 94% of stakeholders we surveyed believe we are making a contribution to more evidence-informed policy, programs and services. Our survey and interviews with stakeholders, policy agency staff and researchers also show high rates of satisfaction and strong levels of engagement.

Innovative suicide prevention tool a new way forward

A groundbreaking decision support tool to guide future suicide prevention activity and investment is being pioneered by a partnership between the Sax Institute, Western Sydney University, The Brain and Mind Centre, and Synergia.The project will develop a model to predict the impact of suicide prevention interventions - before they're rolled out.

Evidence Check review supports work of Mental Health Commission 

NSW Mental Health Commissioner John Feneley (pictured, right) has welcomed the findings of a Sax Institute Evidence Check review of the latest evidence on the effectiveness of consumer-led mental health services, which found these types of services show consistently positive results.

Our contribution to Australia's largest public genome bank

Register now for the 45 and Up Study Collaborators' meeting on 6 September, where new research using the Study will be presented. Hear the Garvan Institute's update on latest developments around the Medical Genome Reference Bank, which will sequence genomes from 4000 healthy older Australians to enable cutting edge genetic research.
