OPENING HOURS CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR

Immigration, International Citizen Service and International Academic Staff Services are closed between Christmas and New Year

STAR, International Citizen Service and IAS

The Danish Agency for Labour Market and Recruitment (STAR) is closed between Christmas and New year, and so is the International Citizen Service (ICS).

STAR's hotline as well as their Citizen Service will however be open until 3 pm on the 23rd December 2014, and again on Friday 2nd January 2015.

For the exact opening hours at ICS's various centres, please refer to the ICS webpage.

International Academic Staff Services will be closed from 22nd December 2014 until 2nd Januar 2015 both days included.

SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN THE RULES FOR WORK AND RESIDENCE PERMIT TO DENMARK

From 1 January 2015 it will be easier for researchers and PhD students from non-EU/EEA countries to obtain permission to work and conduct research in Denmark

A long-awaited reform of the rules for non-EU/EEA-citizens to obtain work and residence permits is expected adopted just before Christmas 2014. The proposed regulation holds a number of substantial changes.

For further information on and assistance with the new rules

The new rules are expected to be adopted by the Danish Parliament on Thursday 18 December, with a view to enter into force from January 1, 2015. Information on the new rules will be available at www.newtodenmark.dk from January 5.

IAS's website (www.ias.au.dk) will be updated with the new rules shortly after New Year as soon as the final information about the new rules are available. Until such time, please refer to www.newtodenmark.dk.

CALL FOR APPLICANTS TO THE AIAS-COFUND FELLOWSHIPS NOW OPEN

Up to 12 AIAS-COFUND Marie Curie Fellowships are now available for application at the AIAS. The call closes on 11 February 2015.

The fellowships are available for the most talented junior and senior researchers from around the world with at least 2 years of research experience after completion of their PhD. Applicants can choose their research topic freely within all academic areas. The call has a global reach as mobility is a key requirement for the applicants, but the call comprises both incoming and reintegration fellowships. The fellowship programme is co-funded by Aarhus University and the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme.

NEW DANISH COURSES IN 2015

New beginner classes will start in January and February 2015. If you want to attend a Danish course next year, now it is the perfect time to register.

NEW beginner courses will start in week 4 (late January 2015) and/or week 9 (late February 2015) depending on the number of participants willing to take Danish classes!

The full semester courses are offered in cooperation with Lærdansk and the municipality of Aarhus. The course starts in the begining of February and September. This course is for those who are interested in learning and using Danish language in their everyday life.
