Kia Ora and welcome to the new look Newsletter from the New Zealand Film Commission. We've been busy with a number of changes lately - the biggest of which is our new website www.nzfilm.co.nz.

At the cinema
Two Little Boys and Kiwi Flyer are both currently screening at cinemas around the country with Fresh Meat opening this week and How To Meet Girls From A Distance next week.
Two Little Boys has taken $775,000 at the box office and Kiwi Flyer $160,000.

Reel Choice iPhone app
The NZFC, Digital NZ and NZ On Screen are pleased to launch a new iPhone app called Reel Choice.
Reel Choice is an exciting collaboration between the three organisations and puts thousands of New Zealand film and television gems and music videos at people's fingertips. The selection includes trailers and behind the scenes features from Kiwi films.
The free app can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store.

Welcoming Briar Grace-Smith
We are thrilled to be able to welcome Briar Grace-Smith to her new role as Development Executive here at the New Zealand Film Commission. Briar has a long list of filmmaking credits to her name and will already be known to many of you.

Important dates
We'd like to remind you that the deadline for submissions for our December Board Meeting is Tuesday, 30th of October.

David Carson-Parker
We note with sadness the passing of arts patron David Carson-Parker.
Mr Carson-Parker was an early investor in New Zealand film and has been recently involved in the restoration of Utu project. He was a benevolent supporter of many arts initiatives, including in his role as the Deputy Chair of the Embassy Theatre Trust.

American Film Market
Our Head of Sales and Marketing, James Thompson, and Marketing Executive, Jasmin McSweeney, will continue our annual attendance at the American Film Market in Los Angeles from October 31st to November 7th.

Filmmaker supported travel
Over the last couple of months we have supported a number of filmmakers to attend training and networking opportunities in order to develop their careers, slates and specific projects.

Further Congratulations to...
Kiwi Flyer, who won the Audience Award at Schlingel in Germany and received a special mention in the main event – the Children's Competition.
The Most Fun You Can Have Dying, which screens at the Hof International Film Festival (Germany) and Cockatoo Island Film Festival (Australia) this week.
Costa Botes, Bret McKenzie and Tusi Tamasese, who are all finalists in the Arts section of the Wellingtonian of the Year awards.
